Empowering Futures: Patina Maldives Celebrates a New Wave of Hospitality Talent

In a proud celebration of ambition, perseverance, and professional growth, Patina Maldives has honoured 12 of its team members for successfully completing the Vocational Education and Training (VET) by EHL programme—an internationally recognized hospitality qualification delivered in partnership with EHL Hospitality Business School, the world’s top-ranked institution for hotel management.

The beachfront ceremony marked more than just the end of an 18-month academic journey; it reflected a shared commitment to elevating local talent and redefining what it means to grow within the hospitality industry. From heartfelt speeches to emotional tributes, the event was a reminder that education, when nurtured in the right environment, can be transformative.

A Curriculum Rooted in Excellence

Launched in 2022, the VET by EHL programme at Patina Maldives was developed to provide resort-based professionals with structured, hands-on training across three tiers: Foundation, Intermediate, and Advanced. Delivered through a blend of digital learning, in-person instruction by EHL-certified trainers, and real-world application, the programme set a rigorous yet rewarding pace for participants.

Regular evaluations by EHL ensured academic integrity and alignment with global hospitality standards, making the diplomas earned by these graduates a meaningful symbol of international excellence.

In his keynote speech, he highlighted the importance of lifelong learning and adaptability in an industry constantly evolving. “You have not only invested in yourselves but in the future of tourism in this country,” he said.

Also speaking was Clive Edwards of the Capella Hotel Group, who reaffirmed the company’s belief in developing talent from within. “Today’s celebration is the result of a shared vision to unlock potential,” he remarked, thanking mentors and facilitators who played a key role in the programme’s success.

Reflections from Within

Two standout graduates—Ali Shiyaz (Food & Beverage) and Numa Ibrahim (Rooms Division)—shared moving reflections on their journeys. They spoke of the challenges of juggling academics and daily operations, the deep mentorship they received, and the lasting friendships formed along the way. Their words resonated across the audience, inspiring fellow team members to follow in their footsteps.

In his closing message, faculty mentor Hussain Ahusan praised the cohort’s unwavering dedication. “These graduates represent the resilience and excellence that define the future of our industry,” he said.

The evening concluded with a group toast, cake-cutting, and a golden hour group photo that captured the pride and unity of the moment. As laughter and stories filled the dinner that followed, it became clear that this graduation wasn’t just the end of a programme, but the beginning of a new chapter.
